BIPOC Yoga in Salem
Since moving back to Oregon, there were a handful of things that I wanted to do. And slowly but surely I am getting them done. I wanted to convert my garage to movement space (check), I wanted a garden (check), spend time with family (check) and offer BIPOC yoga (check).
After living in LA for 20 years I got to experience a diverse group of people all around me. I also had the opportunity to attend classes and a teacher training at a BIPOC owned studio. This experience what emotional for me. As most of the time I’m the only one (person of color) in a yoga class. Sharing a space with people that looked like me felt different and affirming. As I return back to the region I grew up in, remembering what it felt like to always be the other, I wanted to provide an opportunity for others to feel what I felt.
I now have the opportunity to do that, thanks to Resonance Yoga Collective in Salem. I’m offering this class 1x a month and would love to see more people attend. So tell your friends and let’s gather.
